I know I am in the minority but I found Hidamari painfully boring and I never felt any connection to any of the girls. But to each their own. I am curious what the x-factor is for each person that makes someone like Hidamari and not GA as well as vice versa.

I like how energetic the characters are and their interactions.
I also like Hidamari, but thanks to SHAFT it feels weird at some points like most of their shows.

For me, the problem with GA was that it was too “inside baseball” on the topic of art and design. Hidamari took place in an art class, but it’s just a setting for them and they never really go too deep into the subject matter. With GA, it was like some self-fulfilling wank fest from the manga artist talking about her own craft. I just couldn’t get into that, and I didn’t find any of her jokes to be funny because of this.
