Kino's Journey! They made an anime based on this book! Really! I so have to find this series! It really was a great book and was cool too. The ultimate story about a person traveling if I ever seen one (Next to One Piece haha). If the anime as good as you guys say so then I am going to get my eyes on this soon. Thanks for telling that it exist and is good to watch.

Paradise Kiss. Another good one. Both the ending and opening themes were good listen and pretty animation.

Wow, this post really open up some good memories for me. haha

Ah, so much on here I've been meaning to get around to watching at some point but just haven't due to lack of time (work sucks right now and will for awhile unfortunately). But there are several shows on here I was able to watch and loved as well; Planetes, Kekkaishi, Kino's Journey, and Akagi among the top of my list.

It's disappointing that Kekkaishi didn't do so hot in the US, since it really is a great series all around.

Really I felt that they introduced everyone in the first 4 episodes and then worked on being a team and getting some really skills. Everything like gender attitudes and the setting were still there but they kept them to the level they need to be as not to overwhelm the baseball. I loved the whole series but I liked the proportions of the elements quite a bit. To each their own I suppose.

I don't really know much about Mars Daybreak other than is has a dolphin, it is set on Mars, and has mecha. It is something that is on my radar but it not a priority. Your thumbs up definitely moves ahead in my mental queue.

Planetes is just good stuff. Very smart but still fun.

Godannar needs you to accept that T&A is going to be shoved in your face. At least 3 times an episode. If you can deal with that you are golden.

In Japan Kekkaishi sells like gangbusters manga wise. They never got the anime to be as popular for whatever reason. So they cut it off at the legs. Sad really.

Other than that always glad to help!

Oh, what's your opinion on Mars Daybreak? I enjoyed it a lot! They created an entire new world on Mars with back story that's new fully explored. What are the sea witches? How did Mars flood?

Future submarine battles with a fun pirate story is win!

Awesome post!

I just started watching Planetes. I picked it up on sale not too long ago. So far it's as awesome as the trailer I saw made it out to be.

GODANNAR! I'm glad you mentioned the fan service in the show. Amazingly I wish the show had less fan service. I suppose the sheer amount of it drives home the point that the show is to be taken as parody. Some friends of mine, and even myself almost like the show enough by itself, standing on the strong foundation of amazingly manly music and awesome robot fights.

What I saw of La'Chavelier D'eon was nice, though I'm not sure it's a show I would enjoy. I think I saw some premiere footage with Hisui at a con.

I like Kekkaishi a lot. I just wish the show had an ending. As it stands I guess it has a beginning, middle, and end, but it leaves you wanting to know the rest of the story.

I watched some Moriboto on American cable television. Does the Japanese voice acting make the show more enjoyable? I found the show dry and a little boring.

I enjoyed Count of Monte Cristo. It's a cool interpretation of the setting and visual styling.

Hopefully I'll get a chance to take a look at your other recommendations!

Thanks for the recommends - going to make good fodder for the upcoming anime famine of Q1 2010. And as it is with any famine there is no immediate hope in sight.

With Taisho Yakyuu Musume, I thought the first four episodes were of a much higher quality than the rest of the series. I especially noticed the details to the setting, character's speech, male/female attitudes towards each gender (less the blonde english stereotyped teacher) and the burning personalities - so genuine. Post episode 4, everything settled back into comfortable stereotypes.
