NY Comic Con & Anime Festival 2011: Tweets

October 12, 2011It is once again time for one of the biggest conventions on the East coast for any and all geeks, nerds, gamers, and otaku. The 2011 New York Comic Con and New York Anime Festival is at the Jacob Javits Convention Center and it is bigger than ever. This year it is going to be 4 days and take up the entire convention center. Comic companies of all sizes are going to be bringing their A-game along with plenty of TV, movie, book, and video game materials as well. The New York Anime Festival is just a small portion of the larger convention but we are still getting Makoto Shinkai, Hiro Mashima, and Junko Takeuchi as well as several premieres and industry panels. That is more than most conventions outside of the Top 10 Anime Cons would ever dream of having. So like last year we did a little mini-podcast detailing our plans. So if you see us at any events feel free to say hello before we run off to our next event.
As a helpful tip: they don’t seem to be updating the website as often as necessary, especially for Japanese guest info. For autograph sessions check here.

Breakfast with Makoto Shinkai

Okay, I did not actually have breakfast with Makoto Shinkai nor am I auctioning off a meal with this anime director. But I did attend a press conference with Makoto Shinkai on the last morning of Otakon 2011 and recorded all the questions that various members of the press asked. Erin and Noah from the Ninja Consultant podcast edited my audio if you wanted to listen to the questions we asked and more importantly hear the answers we got. If you can’t attend NYAF this year than this worth a listen because Makoto Shinkai is definitely a director to keep your eye on. Anime Diet and ANN also wrote up transcripts of the event if you want to read those as well.

Hisui Does a Podcast in Pajamas

Just as I was going to bed, I saw the Reverse Thieves sign in the sky signaling it was time for me to podcast (or a text message . . . I forget). So I teamed up with Basil and Kevin from the OSMcast! to tackle Saturday, the biggest day of Otakon 2011. We talk about the highs and lows of our experiences including premieres, guests, porn, detectives, gals, and ultra violence! During the breaks Basil interviews the average fans and sees how they are experiencing the East Coast’s biggest anime event. Listen and hear why we all try to return to Otakon every year without fail.
