News Update 7/3
07.03.11
We have started a feature called All Points Bulletin which will appear every Sunday highlighting things across the internet we’d like to share from trailers to articles and all thing in between. It is just another way we are staying connected!
01.22.11
There have been some big changes for the new year so if you haven’t been following Twitter or individual posts closely, this is just a quick rundown. We started two new initiatives at the end of 2010 that are ongoing, No Case Too Small where we look at single episodes of series that incorporate detective elements; and Otaku NYC in which we highlight things to do around the Big Apple. We have also begun our first try at episode blogging with the streaming detective series Gosick. And finally, the Speakeasy Podcast has some new sounds thanks to an upgrade of equipment, new songs, and a brand new promo!
10.22.10
As you can see the site design has been updated a little bit. You may have noticed that the old design looked funky in Google Chrome so I went ahead a did a little fixing up. Enjoy!
08.23.10
As we get deeper and deeper into blogging, so too must changes be made. Nothing big mind you, but expect to see more solo articles on the site. Mondays and Fridays articles will remain tag-team as always but every once and a while you’ll see a little thing here or there by just one of us. We want to add variety to the posts you see here and get some of our random thoughts out there!
05.21.10
Yes, there has been a recent slue of podcasts but don’t worry we are still posting the same amount of blog content! This month you just have a little extra audio if you want it.
04.16.10
I updated the About page a little, adding in the podcast and Otaku Diaries. You may have also noticed we had our first poll, expect many more to come!
03.24.10
You may or may not have noticed changes to the site. We have officially moved it over to WordPress.com now, so you shouldn’t be seeing much (if any) downtime ever again. We tried to make the transition seamless, but we are still tweaking things.
03.08.10
Looks like both Hisui and I added our knowledge to different projects this past week. Check out Hisui on Otaku in Review Podcast – Sleeping with Hisui. And be sure to try out my ziti recipe for the Otaku Cook Up! challenge.
03.04.10
The index has had a clean up! I am working on adding to the archive as well, right now everything back to August 2009 is spiffed up!
01.18.10
The new year is bringing about all kinds of changes here at Reverse Thieves! First is the hiatus status of our Manga of the Month, but don’t worry, it may be back. We just wanted to try out something a little different, which brings me to our second change, a new monthly article titled: The Final Denouement. In this piece one of us will do a little dissertation about a topic that has been on our minds. And finally, and surprisingly, is The Speakeasy, our own monthly podcast. Thanks to a partnership with Anime3000 we have been able to bring a secret dream to life. Please enjoy the ever-changing Reverse Thieves blog!
12.02.09
Be sure to check out the latest episode of Ani-Gamers featuring us! We discuss shojo anime that appeals to both genders and I sort of try to commandeer the show. We could have gone on and on but sadly Ani-Gamers likes to have a reasonable length to their shows.
11.18.09
Good lord, sorry for so much down time this month! The web hosting got changed and the server moved, just so much happening. In any case, this should be the last of it for the foreseeable future.
11.02.09
Deepest apologies for the server problems over the weekend. But it looks like this are back to normal!
10.28.09
Help us with the ultimate list of detective anime and manga!
10.20.09
Be sure to check out our latest scheme . . . er . . . project, anime review Secret Santa! Interst looks good so we should have a slue of bloggers participating!
08.28.09
Hisui has taken up a new client! She is now writing some choice reviews for Comics Village, be sure to check out them out. The first one up is Dazzle books 1 & 2.
08.26.09
We have a slightly altered look! Enjoy!
08.13.09
WOW, podcasts abound this week! A show we did about Otakon 2009 is finally up over on Ani-Gamers. Sure we did the longest con report in history, but it’s still worth listening to! Other guests include Kohaku (I know you thought she was made up) and Ogiue Maniax. Then you can head over to Anime 3000 and hear Hisui chat about some current shows in the summer season!
07.06.09
We have gotten our panel times for upcoming Otakon! You can find us on Friday from 12:45-1:45PM running our Anime Recruitment panel and from 7-8PM dishing out I Can’t Believe You Haven’t Seen This!
06.15.09
Back from AnimeNEXT. Everyone was pretty tired but overall had a good time with some great company. Our report will be up soon! And just as we come back to the real world we must start preparations for Otakon!
05.29.09
Hisui did a guest review for Pop Culture Shock for volumes 9-11 of Hayate the Combat Butler. Go Hisui go!
05.28.09
We have a panel at the upcoming AnimeNEXT convention. We will be running our panel, I Can’t Believe You Haven’t Seen This! with a guest appearance by Ogiue Maniax, on Saturday from 9-10AM.
04.28.08
Check out Hisui’s guest appearance on the Anime 3000 Podcast all about manga!
04.27.09
The data collection continues as we dug in completely to the Otaku Diaries over the weekend. We officially set a date for the results of the project! Our first post will be at the beginning of July entitled, Otaku Diaries Part 1: Lies, damn lies, and statistics. After that expect a monthly post highlighting certain areas. Thanks for all the support for the project!
04.08.09
I realized today that we have been using Google Analytics for one year now! So with that in mind I thought I would share some statistics. So within that year we have had more than 17,500 visitors, that is leaps and bounds better that just 6 months ago! Of those, almost exactly 1/3 are repeat visitors, we certainly are growing a returning readers group. Unsurprisingly, we get the most hits from Google and Anime Nano. However, somewhat surpisingly, our third resource for hits is just coming directly to our site with no middleman. And happily one of our most visited articles, ranking just below the main page, is our Otaku Diaries Project. Our AnimeNEXT con report has also stayed shockingly high on the list of popular articles. We are growing each month! A big thanks to everyone who visits!
02.25.09
Ogiue Maniax mentioned the Otaku Diaries project on his blog. Thanks much!
02.23.09
Thanks very much to Anime Roundtable for mentioning the Otaku Diaries one of their recent episodes (#62). We will stop taking applications on Saturday the 28th!
02.16.09
We make another appearance on Ani-Gamers (Episode #12) it is live from NYCC 2009 with a bunch of other bloggers. Lots of fun and nice supplement to our con report, if you can read all of it!
02.05.09
Couple of things to mention. First off, Anime World Order (Episode #76a) and Ninja Consultants (Episode #68) have mentioned our Otaku Diaries project on their podcasts. This has created a lot of interest in the project! Second, as you might know, New York Comic Con is this weekend. I will attempt to twitter some from the convention, so check that out! Otherwise we won’t be around much.
01.27.09
We made a guest appearance on the Ani-Gamers podcast wrapping up great things from 2008! Go on over and discover our true identities! Here!
01.07.09
We are starting a research project called the Otaku Diaries, we are looking for participants. For more information click the link in the side bar or click here.
12.03.08
I have updated the index to include all the ongoing investigations in the specific series section since a lot of titles get discussed there but never make it to a larger post. Whoo that was hard work for us!
11.21.08
We are now both on Twitter! Our twitter feeds can be seen in the side bar, appropriately titled: Narutaki’s Sleuthing and Hisui’s Sleuthing. Please follow us if you have one as well. Enjoy!
11.03.08
A couple announcements for November. Firstly, this will be last month of Anime and Manga of the Month. We have been doing it for one whole year! Starting in December it will be just Manga of the Month. We are making this change for a number of reasons but mostly because we review a lot of anime together on the blog. Also there is just so much more manga that each of us have read on our own. Next, we have a couple of new guest reviewers that are kicking off November for us with a hilarious review of Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. So check that out!
10.30.08
Updated our banner and darkened our colors a bit. For some people the orange was showing up more yellow. Sometime in the future I may do something completely new but I’m pretty happy with the layout at the moment.
10.22.08
I got a new compy! I don’t think I could have survived this long without one if I didn’t go to work everyday and have access. Now I feel reconnected with the world. His name is Wataru (after the charcter from Hayate no Gotoku) and he is a bright and shiny Mac-Mini. I thought this name appropriate, I couldn’t very well call a little tiny computer Gackt III. There would be too much power. R.I.P. Gackt II you were always good to me.
10.09.08
Well, we have finally spent some money on this blog as a bit of an experiment. We will now have a banner ad on Anime News Network starting Oct. 13! Here is what the banner looks like. If it seems to give us a steady boost in visitors we may continue to invest in it. After all it was only $20.00.
09.29.08
NYAF is over! We went, we conquered, we returned. Our con report will be up next Monday, the 6th. I will briefly say that it was leaps and bounds better than last year and our panels had large attendance! Also the final article in our Macross series went up today, we promise to lay off the giant robots in our reviews for a while. In other news my Mac bit the dust over the weekend and I felt like crying. Not really sure when I will be in possession of enough cash to get another so until then don’t expect screen shots for some of the reviews.
09.16.08
The site is back up and running! Sorry about that everyone, our servers were in Houston and well I guess I don’t have to say more than that. Everything should be okay now though!
09.06.08
We have been using Google Analytics for about 6 months now and it really tells you interesting stuff. I thought I would share some of it here so without further ado. We have had more than 4,000 visitors, 64% of which were new ones. Not including the U.S. the top ten countries that visit us are (in order from highest to lowest): Canada, Indonesia, United Kingdom, Australia, Singapore, Philippines, Germany, France, Japan, and Malaysia. 64% of all visitors only came once but the next highest visitor loyalty is 51-100 visits, then 26-50. We get the most hits from Anime Nano but second to that is people accessing our address directly. Not including the main page, the most popular page to visit is our Top 5 lists (still odd to me). Our most popular article is Ouran High School Host Club, followed by our AnimNEXT 2008 con report, then the Murakami exhibit, Hayate, and Gundam 00. I’ll leave you with some interesting keyword searches that somehow have lead people to our site: allenby beardsley hentai, kochikame porn, new yandere, “death note” misa annoying, “honey is short” anime, bad guy misunderstood protagonist manga, j-pop girls on roller skates, and two girls niju boob fighting.
08.25.08
Macross Madness starts today! These reviews are a long time coming let me tell you. We have slaved for months! But now we can sort of relax because it is all done, well have to finish up Macross Frontier of course. We are preping for the upcoming NYAF so it will be nice to not have reviews for Mondays to worry about in the coming month. If you have seen all of Macross I hope you enjoy our perspectives on it and if you haven’t I hope we make you want to run out and see it.
07.28.08
The Top 5 Lists live again! So after taking a close look at our Google Analytics (which every person with a website should have because not only is it informative, it is fun!), I found that our Top 5 Lists page is the third most viewed page in our site! Who knew? So we are reinstating the lists in our Monday posts. Enjoy!
07.16.08
I’m sure you’ve noticed but let me just fill you in, we now have an events widget/thingy in our side bar. Here you will see stuff we are attending as well as special things come up for the blog. Example being the Macross Madness event during which we will be reviewing every bit of Macross anime! There is also a page for the events to get more details. Be sure to check it out!
07.04.08
Ongoing Investigations starts today! If you haven’t heard, it is our new weekly post about all the things we’ve been watching, reading, listening to, or playing for the week. It will always come out on Fridays. Also I updated the sidebar with a few things including a button leading to our forums and a whole bunch of links back to blog communities. Another thing to look out for is Digg It! being attached to our posts starting with the AnimeNEXT 2008 con report.
06.30.08
We have just heard some good news from the staff at New York Anime Festival. Firstly, we (along with two friends) will be running two panels! Obviously I’ll put up reminders along with dates and times closer to the con. Secondly, Reverse Thieves is traveling in style, that’s right, we are officially press at the con. Can’t wait to see everyone in September!
06.26.08
Woohoo! We have a new look! Possibly even more sexy than before. This a bit early but our one year anniversary is coming up so I thought we needed a new look to go along with it. I made these lovely graphics with trust Adobe Illustrator. Hopefully it gives a new kick to the site! You’ll also notice we have removed the welcome page in favor of just having up our latest post.
05.31.08
We are up and running on our new server! Things are lookin’ good. Hopefully this hasn’t caused too much trouble for anyone.
01.07.08
Well, I am back from vacation and it is a brandnew year. We have been working on this for about 6 months now and am glad to see it growing. Hopefully the new year will bring new readers.
12.12.07
Lots of things going on! First, we now have a forum. Hopefully that will be a lot of fun and give things a more personal touch. Along that same vein, there is nonw a “daily ramblings” section on the main page. And I am adding a viewing log, so everyone can keep up with what we are watching! Be sure to check out all these new features.
12.10.07
NYAF came to a close last night, and while it was an interesting weekend and well run. It certainly has improvements to be made, as any con would. We’ll have a full report up soon.
12.07.07
First day of NYAF was very good! I have to say, if the weekend stays as good as Friday it may be the best run con yet!
