Narutaki’s picks:
- The Go-To Villain Before Hitler
Ever wonder whose name people evoked as the epitome of evil long before Hitler laid siege to the world? - Miles IS the Modern Spider-Man
Brett writes a thoughtful article on why Miles is different, relatable, and true to the current age. I’ve only read the first issue but I too was pleased with the direction.
- Caricatures Through History at the MET
The Metropolitan Museum of Art has opened the “Infinite Jest” exhibit featuring drawings, some rarely seen, from artists such as da Vinci and Toulouse-Lautrec to Al Hirschfield and James Gillray.
- Batman Shorts from Wallace and Gromit’s Studio
No details on this beyond that it is in the works, but in any case I think we can expect a very different take on the character with more humor. Perhaps a bit like Batman Brave and the Bold? - A New Takes on the Justice League and Legion of Doom
Webcomic creator Aaron Diaz tackles rebooting DC characters himself in light of the recent changes. These are some fun takes, though I’d note that both Superman and Wonder Woman are doing some of the things he mentions for their stories already; i.e. fighting for little guy and going back to the mythology roots. In any case, I’d read these stories but I’m also happy with the real reboot, too! - Johnny Depp Tapped to Play Dr. Seuss
A new live action film about the life of author Dr. Seuss is in the works. Johnny Depp is producing the film and may be starring it is as well.
- More Fate/Zero News
The first announcement was that the Blu-Ray Box set of Fate/Zero would have additional cut scenes not seen in the TV series. To quote Alucard in Symphony of the Night, “I’m interested in this.” The other more surprising announcement was that Atsuhiro Iwakami said that they were splitting up Fate/Zero into two separate seasons to prevent a dip in quality. That is a decision I can get behind if it keeps the show looking beautiful. - Same Horrific Locked Room Puzzles But Now Far Prettier
Umineko no Naku Koro ni Chiru is getting a PS3 port just like it’s predecessor. Now all the ladies can get the full glory of sexy Willard H. Wright. For some reason unknown to anyone I am thrilled about Lion Ushiromiya. All of Umineko is also getting a port to the PSP in 4 games as well. And I can forget the next iteration of the fighting game as well now with Jessica, George and Rosa as playable characters. By the way does anyone know if this is real? - Jojo’s Still Crazy but Now Crazy Fashionable
In a follow-up story Hirohiko Araki’s has an exhibit at Tokyo’s Shinjuku Gucci. Not just content to have the character Rohan Kishibe have a side story in a women’s fashion magazine the whole cast of Jojo’s part 4 must be involved with a Gucci display. One again only a series like Jojo’s would be in this situation. - What is Mecha? Oh, Code Geass don’t hurt me. Don’t hurt me no more
The only way to properly settle the fierce debate over what is mecha anime is for The Veef and Carl to team up in a single podcast and dissect the genre. This is hopefully the final statement on whether or not Code Geass is a mecha show and what is a mecha show in the first place. Plus a terrible look into he minds of team /m/. - You have Fate/Extra Questions. They have Fate/Extra Answers.
In Silicon Era’s continuing coverage of Fate/Extra’s US release they have an interview with Mike Engler the localization editor at Aksys with questions from reader like me. The 2 part interview sadly does not have any questions form me personally but they did work some answers to my questions into the interview which is good enough.
No explanation needed.

I must admit I kinda didn’t want to focus on Code Geass so much but I think we still got the point across.
Well Code Geass was the case that came up so what could you do but talk a good deal about it. Still I think you and Carl defended your case well.
