Type-Moon Weekly News Roundup: Now With More Taiga Fujimura

This Saturday post is the weekly Type-Moon news in addition to the regular APB post on Sunday. If you have any suggestions for what to highlight on the Type-Moon Weekly News Roundup drop me a line via email or Twitter.

  • Not That Surprising
But it is still nice to know that Ufotable is doing the new animations for the Vita version of Fate/Hollow Ataraxia.
  • Clearly the Caster Path
The first solid official details of the new Fate/Stay Night anime are rolling out. Ayako Kawasumi is still Saber. All is right with the world.
  • The Casting Couch
Not to worry. It seems so far all the original Japanese voice cast is coming back.
  • Attack of the Killer Tiger
And the cherry on top is the first real trailer for the new anime. It is a bit noisy since the footage is from a show floor but the animation is pretty clear.
  • The Art of Saber and Other Less Important Characters
There are some solid character designs from the new anime as well. Look at Shiro’s new jacket.
  • More Aniplex Formal Wear
More pictures of the from the Aniplex booth at AnimeJapan. With extra wonderful Saber action.
  • ComicWalker Double Black Label
You can now legitimately read Fate/kaleid liner Prisma ☆ Illya Drei 3!! on the ComicWalker site. There is only one chapter but the road to shame will surely be longer in due time.
  • Everything is a Mystery!
As Red Dragon starts wrapping up Makoto Sanda has been posting pictures of the Good Smile Company’s miniatures and dioramas used for the story. I really hope this gets some sort of animated adaptation. Thanks to Wensleydale_ for pointing this one out.
  • Professional Figure Skater
The closer we get to the new Fate/Stay Night anime the more new figures we will surely see. It seems that we are seeing more than just Saber though for a change.

    • Anime Japan 2014: Good Smile – Saber, Gilgamesh, and Rin are hardly surprising but it seems they have realized Archer has always been popular. There is also some World Conquest Zvezda Plot figures on the way from Good Smile as well.
    • More Smiles: More Good Smile pictures from Anime Japan 2014. Of course it is mostly Rin centric when it comes to Type-Moon.
    • Spotlight on Twin Tails – The new Rin Tohsaka Nendoroid gets a full review here.
    • L.I.L.Y. (Like I Love You) – More information about the huge Real Action Hero Lily Saber.
    • EXTREMELY Business Casual – Aniplex’s 1/6-scale Fate/Zero Saber in a Suit is a bit more … after hours than usual.

Inari, Konkon, Koi Iroha: Wrath of Konkon

(Watch Inari, Konkon, Koi Iroha on Hulu for free.)

hisui_icon_4040 If you asked anyone what their favorite series from this season was you would get a wide selection of answers but Kill la Kill and Space Dandy will probably come up the most. On the other hand if you ask Kate she will say Kuroko’s Basketball because . . . well she is Kate. BUT if you ask what was the best NEW show of the season we would both pick an anime that is sadly overlooked. It is a wonderful mix of comedy and romance. A series based on a seinen manga with a shojo appeal. That show is Inari, Konkon, Koi Iroha.

Inari, Konkon, Koi Iroha is easy to dismiss as the “spirits and humans” story of the season to fill for a lack of a new season of Natsume’s Book of Friends or Mushishi but that is selling the show short. Konkon has an infectious joy that sets it apart from the pack. Unlike some other the other anime and manga in the genre that either go for a gentle melancholy or a soft warm glow like Kamichu! and Gingitsune this show goes for the laughs first and foremost. But at the same time there are some strong romantic undercurrents and well as solid friendships to bring it all together.

narutaki_icon_4040 It is funny to use “nice” as a way to describe a show I want others to watch, but Inari Konkon Koi Iroha is nice. Nice like it wraps you up and makes you feel good while watching it. You might find yourself sighing in contentment while viewing the show even.

But that’s not to say niceness is the only quality the series has to offer. Inari Konkon Koi Iroha is a nice, hilarious, fun, and sweet story featuring wacky gods, new loves, and the bonds of friendship.
