• The Opening to Dengeki Stryker
  After catching up on Mike Dent’s Friday Ace podcast I became aware that MangaGamer picked up Dengeki Stryker. While it is a pornographic game it seems to be filled with hot-blooded Tokusatsu action. I mean Masaaki Endoh of Jam Project does the opening.
• Tomopop Reviews Super Robot Chogokin Weissritte
  My birthday is the 21st so the readers can feel free to buy that for me. Or just dress up as Excellen Browning.
• Mawaru Penguindrum Round Up
  A collection of reviews of the first episode of  Mawaru Penguindrum, which just so happens to be my favorite show of the news season via Skull Candies. Kunihiko Ikuhara has created a show layered enough that different reviews will notice different things going on.
• Excel Saga Manga wraps up after 15 years
  From the news desk of things only I care about.

• Hitch animated short
  About an Alfred Hitchcock-themed cookbook! At a mere 3-minutes this animated short has a lot of impact and style not to mention nice tongue-in-cheek humor.
• Kaito Kid hijacks Conan’s TV slot! . . .
  . . . for four weeks starting in August. Kid has a huge fan following, myself included, so this bit of fun is much anticipated.
• Frank Miller’s portrayal of Batman as an idea
  This mirrors some of my own thoughts about how Batman affects the average citizen and how Miller shows that. Also some good musings on Batgirl.

• Brigid Alverson’s Women and Superheroes: We’re Just Not That Into You?
  The latest article in the ongoing recent conversation popping up all over the internet about women and comic creation. This also has links to the many other posts on the topic if you need to catch up.
• Catwoman short animation announced
  This will be bundled with the upcoming direct-to-video feature Batman: Year One. So now I’m doubly looking forward to the release.
• Trailer for MTV’s new teen show Awkward
  A funny and cute look at teen life coming this fall.

• The Carnival Phantasm Preview 1 and 2
  It was going to eventually be mentioned on the blog so I might as well put it here. Look it is Riesbyfe Stridberg. Death did not stop her from being in Melty Blood and it won’t stop her from being in this.
• The scrapped plans for Fate/Apocrypha
  Apparently there were plans for an online games in the Nasuverse that never came to be. But there are some great profiles on Servants created by various artists that were proposed. Hopefully one day we will see the magical Shakespeare and berserker loli Frankenstein in other projects.
• Aksys Games licenses Fate/Extra
  Yeah Fate/Extra! Any time we get from Saber in the US I will mention it. Also they picked up the otome visual novel  Hakuoki: Demon of the Fleeting Blossom which was an odd but interesting choice.
• Berserk Golden Age Arc I: Egg of the Supreme Ruler
  The first new Berserk movie has a date and a title.

  Who does not love Batman: The Animated Series? Dale Rausch from MAHQ is a guest as well.
• The Greatest Movie EVER! Podcast & AWO talk about My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic
  I have seen people talking about Bronies on everything from NPR to Fox News. It takes the combined power of Greatest Movie EVER! and Anime World Order to get to the bottom of this mess.
• Otaku Generation talks about AnimeNEXT
  An alternative look at AnimeNEXT 2011. There is also Part 3 of their look at version terminology related to anime and manga. They mention me so my vanity insists I link to the podcast.

  A hilarious short from Cartoon Brew’s Student Animation Festival.
• Trailer for Gackt in Bunraku
  His English debut!
• Burn Notice: A New Day
  A new webcomic that ties into the series bridging S4 and S5. I haven’t read it yet since I’m only on S2 but still thought it was cool and worth noting.
• 10-page excerpt from Laddertop
  This upcoming comic from Orson Scott Card and daughter looks terribly underwhelming. Also I am lame because it annoys the heck out of me that they are calling it a “manga.”
