Case Closed Reviews: Fall 2013 / Spring 2014

Follow us directly , on Stitcher, or on iTunes

First impressions are great but what about our thoughts after we’ve watched an entire series week to week? We figured our listeners might want to hear our final impressions as well so we’ve created the Case Closed Review podcast. Just like the S.W.A.T. Reviews, these will be mini-podcasts and completely off the cuff.

Here are the 3 shows we finished from the fall and spring seasons:

Listen – Final impressions of Yowamushi Pedal from TMS Entertainment. It is streaming on Crunchyroll.

Listen – Final impressions of Ping Pong the Animation from Tatsunoko Productions. It is streaming on Funimation and Hulu.

Listen – Final impressions of One Week Friends from Brain’s Base. It is streaming on Crunchyroll.

The Speakeasy #054: Garden State Julep, AnimeNEXT 2014

Drink #054: Garden State Julep
AnimeNEXT 2014

This time on The Speakeasy we have illustrious guests to help us talk about the AnimeNEXT weekend. Vinnie from All Geeks Considered and panel coordinator of AnimeNEXT joins us along with Gerald and Daryl from Anime World Order who were guest panelists at the convention.

(Listen)

And now your helpful bartenders at The Speakeasy present your drink:

Garden State Julep

  • 2 ounces Applejack, bonded
  • 3/4 ounce lemon syrup
  • 3 ounces dry rosé wine
  • 2 sprigs mint
  • pinch of salt

In a Collins glass, gently muddle mint with lemon syrup to release oils. Add Applejack and rosé, stir to combine. Fill glass half-way with crushed ice, add salt and stir again. Top with more crushed ice to mound over top. Garnish with mint sprigs, red berries and a lemon wheel.

AnimeNEXT 2014: Trigger Happy

(note: No Type-Moon Weekly News Round Up or All Points Bulletin this week.)

Like all smart conventioneers, AnimeNEXT went after Studio Trigger as guests this year and were successful in bringing over Shigeto Koyama and Hiromi Wakabayashi who both had a hand in Kill la Kill and Inferno Cop among other things. AnimeNEXT doubled-down on awesome with their musical guest being ROOKiEZ is PUNK’D who has supplied openings for DRRR!! and Yowamushi Pedal!

We’re hoping to record live from the event on Friday night. But even if we don’t, this month’s Speakeasy Podcast will be dedicated to AnimeNEXT. As always we’ll have tons of coverage the weekend’s proceedings in the coming week, too.

We got panels, be sure to attend!
