Narutaki’s picks:

  • LEGO Tachikoma
It moves pretty well, too. And it comes with a part list in case you want to make your own!
  • 7-Eleven, Soccer, and Detective Conan
As far as I know this is the first appearance of Conan in the Nendoroid line of figures, something I have been hoping for! Two different uniforms to kick off the release of the 16th Detective Conan movie in theaters featuring a soccer story. Each comes bundled with manga as well and the Big Osaka version is exclusive to 7-Elevens in Japan.
  • Nerd-tastic Logo Redesigns
I love stuff like this! They are most Star Wars related with a sprinkling of other series. My favorite is the Empire/Adidas mash-up.
  • Centaur Manga Covers [1] [2] [3] [4]
Yeah, in case you missed it on Twitter, centaur manga is a budding genre in Japan at the moment! Really.

Hisui’s picks:

I can’t wait for the next movie!

Narutaki’s picks:

  • Mind the Gap
A preview of the upcoming mystery/supernatural comic has me plenty on board for its May debut.
  • Who Needs Cable? The Birth of Online Animation Channels
New distribution formats are popping up and the animation industry isn’t going to be left behind. With the appeal of Adult Swim and Comedy Central-like programing blocks, smaller animation groups are looking to make their money away from big networks.
  • Kaneda Rides Again . . . For Charity
So once you build a totally badass replica of Kaneda’s bike from Akira, what do you do with it? Ride it everywhere of course! But if the prospect of your life being just a little bit cooler from seeing this bike zoom down the street wasn’t enough, the journey is raising awareness and funds for autism.

You should smile now that Fate/Zero is back:

Narutaki’s picks:

  • Letters From the New York Otaku
Dave Cabrera of ANN’s Astro Toy among other things has started a new column on a Japanese site animeanime.jp writing from the perspective of an American fan. The articles are aimed at Japanese fans curious about the English-speaking community so it is familiar territory for most of us. But that also makes reading it a little surreal.
  • A Vampire Even I Could Love?
The trailer for Dark Shadows is out and I must admit I like what I see. But then this is one of my favorite combos, Johnny Depp and Tim Burton, so I’m predetermined to give it a fair shot.
  • Animation Trailer Madness

    • Longway North is less a trailer and more a proposal from the director of Secret of Kells. This is already beautiful and engaging as is!
    • Rise of the Guardians now has real animation to see. I’m enjoying the concept more thanks to this, but a lot of us are asking “where is Jack Frost?” who has been front  and center in promotional material but does not appear even for a moment in the trailer.
    • Hotel Transylvania, which has been a troubled production to say the least, is finally finishing up. And might it be another chance for me to enjoy supernatural creatures like vampires!? What is the world coming to.
    • Dinotasia is a compilation movie which had segments that aired on Discovery Channel will be out later this year in the U.S.. It is about dinos so of course it’s cool, but wow this trailer is intense and violent!
    • ParaNorman which indicates to me a sudden influx of morbid comedy? Not that I mind!
    • My Family and the Wolf looks really fun and slightly chilling at the end. It has a great setup that made me curious to know where the story would go. This is a European production so it is 50/50 on whether it will get a wide U.S. release or not.
  • The Happiest Place on Earth
This lovely promotional video for Tokyo Disneyland has me wishing I could go! At least wishing it more than I already do all the time.
  • TRAINS!

Hisui’s picks:

I can’t resist a Disney image after talking about Disneyland.
