The Fourth Brethren of the Coast Podcast

One of the oldest conflicts in anime fandom is the fact that fansubs helped spread the popularity of anime in the early days of the hobby. And to that point how relevant are fansubs to an industry where 90% of everything is simulcast in English and classic series are being license recused all the time?  Are there still titles that can be ethically fansubbed? Or is watching any show just dirty piracy?

Sean Russell from Anime 3000 gathered together Sean Ryan from Alpha Counter as well as both Reverse Thieves to discuss the remaining times where watching less than official subs may still be a grey area.

Return of the No Brand Heroes

The more anime bloggers you get to attend any given convention the probability that a podcast will occur increases exponentially for each writer that you add. So with that in mind it was almost inevitable that a podcast would come out of Genericon this year. I joined Evan MintoDave EstrellaInk, Ed Chavez, Walt Amos, and Tim Maughan to talk about our experiences at the convention. Well we eventually start talking about Genericon. It takes a bit. But such is any large roundtable without Narutaki to run it like a regiment.

Double-Barreled Hisui Podcasts

Since I recently made guest appearances on two podcasts, I figured I would combine them into one post.

First of all, I finished up talking to Patz about Martian Successor Nadesico on the Cockpit podcast. In Part B, we talk about a lot of the material that came after the TV series including the Gekiganger III OVA, the games, and the somewhat infamous Prince of Darkness movie. It is quite a heaven and hell punch as some of the additional material is wonderful and other just leaves you greatly disappointed. Listen to find out what we love and what left us cold.

I also make a brief cameo on the last episode of the Ninja Consultant podcast were a few members of the NYCC crew throw in their comments on the convention. Dave Cabrera, Patz, my roommate, and I give our highs and lows of the convention as we are winding down on the third day.
