Wow! If the last episode was the appetizer than this episode was the starter. We began off with the first half of last episode being filled with goofiness involving Irisviel but by the last half it was all action. This time other than palate cleanser with Miyu and then Caren this episode was almost all tasty fighting. We even got all three magical girls having a chance to shine with their own specialty being brought to the forefront as well as the weaknesses of their techniques being exposed. These episodes have really reminded me what I loved about the series when it is good.

Also it reminds me that I really want them to fully finish that Fate/Hollow Ataraxia English patch. If Bazett is half amazing in Fate/Hollow as she is here then I actually might be slightly more interested in really experiencing her story then I am in seeing more Saber, silly hamburger jokes, and bathtub sexy times. (OK. That is totally a lie but it is almost true enough to be worth saying.) If anything I hope that whole patch leak lights a fire to get the full patch out sooner rather than later. Fingers are crossed.

Was it just me or did the cold open have music that sounded like what you would hear during an old cop drama when they either recapped that last episode or gave a preview of the current episode?

She has arrived! The best part of the whole darn series is finally on-screen and doing her thing. It you were getting a little tired of Illya and Chloe fan service than the Irish brawler is here to blast away those blues with an earth shattering Multi-Reverse Punch.

But for anyone who is worried that this is just going to become a pure shonen battle show remember that the beach episode is on the horizon. There will be girls in swimsuits soon enough. But until then we have Bazett rocking the house with roundhouse kicks and rune magic.

Also if your really into the fanservice your probably not reading this and instead looking at episode reviews where the first picture is always of Chloe’s taint. We here are Reverse Thieves hold our commentary to a higher standard. We hold out for at least Sella’s taint at the minimum.

As much as we like to pretend to be above such things our psychology proves that time and time again at our base programming we are pack animals. That does not mean we are slaves to these impulses. We are still creatures of reason. It just means it is just as unwise to ignore that these impulses exist as it is to constantly give into them. That means that we tend to organize ourselves into hierarchical groups whenever we are around each other be it adding a new friend to a circle of buddies or a new coworker at the office. Families tend to be a little more subtle about this power dynamic but mostly because such jockeying within the food chain of a household tends to be either instantly determined by birth or build up over the years. The only real exception to that rule is when a new family member is added to the mix. This is one of the few times a person can earn or lose their place in the household so quickly.

As the newly adopted daughter of the von Einzbern family Chloe has one chance to determine who is boss. She clearly can’t overtake Irisviel. Humans can not pass into the realm of the gods. Kiritsugu is just too much of a stone cold bad ass for the discount Archer to overtake so him so the only point of entry on the top is to try to sneak in above Illya.

Who will be on top when the dust settles? Will Shiro always be the bottom of the totem pole? (Spoilers: yes.)
