The Ani-Gamers Podcast Where We Don’t Talk About Anime or Games

Just before New York Comic Con, Evan asked me about being on a special episode of Ani-Gamers to talk about American comics that might appeal to anime and manga fans. I’ve always been interested in doing something like this, have actually thought about a panel at conventions in fact, but just hadn’t pushed myself into it. So this was a perfect opportunity and with the high of NYCC going in, I was all hype for American comics! If there is one thing I hope people take away from this podcast is that there is a variety of American comic genres far beyond big superheroes. Expect to hear more from me on this topic in the future.

Crime Scene Investigations #003: AnimeNEXT 2012

This is a bonus segment of the Speakeasy Podcast we like to call Crime Scene Investigations. These are random bonus podcasts that we record live from various events. There is no regular schedule for these. We will put them up as quickly as we can when the opportunity for one occurs. We suspect they will mostly be from conventions but we might work in some interviews and conversation from NY events as fate allows.

In this edition of Crime Scene Investigations, we talk about our experiences on Sunday at AnimeNEXT 2012. The podcast contains the opinion of Hisui from this very blog (but no Narutaki who is too cool for you anyway), VamptVo and Ink from the AniGamers, and The Digital Bug from Reisen Goes to School by Bus all in one roundtable discussion. There are Bronies, Bluebirds, Interrupting Cows, and Rudolf von Stroheim. As always we have lots of good things to say as well as some constructive criticism.

Also seriously: What was up with people at panels this year? Is courtesy no longer common?

Crime Scene Investigations #003: AnimeNEXT 2012

Nina dies in a fire and other wishful thoughts about Code Geass.

In part two of our guest appearance on the Ani-Gamers podcast we talk about Code Geass seasons 1 and 2. With Evan we explore our thoughts and theories on many topics including the series ending, the flow of the story, our reaction to bizarre parts of fandom, and why Nunnally was the best character ever. It’s only one podcast so while we discuss what really stood out for us, we barely scratch the surface of the series as a whole. We are warning everyone now that you might as well assume we spoil everything including details about the conclusion and who lives and dies. Also we discuss the greatest and most guarded secret only known to a handful in the Code Geass community: What Kallen Stadtfeld’s face looks like.
