Back in 2012 I did a post about the five Type-Moon projects I would love to see translated. Since then some of my dreams came true and at the same time others of them are still unfulfilled. That said we finally have a fully translated Fate/Hollow Ataraxia so I’m generally going to put the post in the success column. One could argue that I had nothing to do with that so I’m going to say that we might only want to write it onto the success column with a pencil. Still with Fate/Hollow Ataraxia out-of-the-way I really wanted to do a new post to cover some of the material that has come out in the meantime. Just as quickly as wonderful things get translated there are two more things that come out that I still wonder about. Theoretically someone might read this post and get a bit of powerful inspiration they might not have otherwise had. Who knows. Stranger things have happened.
Everything on the list has to be a full on Type-Moon project. That means as much as I would love to see a translated Red Dragon it does not get a spot on the list. Also there has to be some easily conceivable way of seeing a translation. While I am curious to read Ice Flowers I don’t know anyone who has a copy of it. This is hardly a definitive list. There are countless things I would love to add but eight is a good start.
They are just titles that as far as I know have not been fully translated into English. If you have evidence that is not the case please send it my way. I would love to be wrong.
I just finished reading Fate/Hollow Ataraxia less than a month ago. Therefore if Mahou Tsukai no Yoru came out tomorrow I would instantly read it but it is not higher on the list as I just finished the visual novel I wanted to read more.
Aoko Aozaki is a both a remarkably admirable woman and an incredibly sexy one. Who would not want to read about her adventures? On top of that we get to see Touko Aozaki as an antagonist. (A role she is hardly unsuited for.)
I own the first officially translated Fate/Complete Material from Udon Entertainment. I wish they had been able to release the unedited book but I had no problems with the version they released. My only real complaint is now I want more. There are four other books in the series as well as a whole slew of other Type-Moon art books. All the entries in the series have so much more information. They would be an invaluable resource. Volume III – World Material alone is worth its weight in gold.
6. Melty Blood Actress Again Current Code
I am hardly a fighting game guy but Melty Blood has enough story to keep my interest even if I never learn proper zoning, how to count frames, or which moves have priority over each other. I played enough of previous versions to get all the Tsukihime goodness out of those games. Riesbyfe Stridberg is a valuable member of the Back Alley Alliance so I need to know her story now that we can finally play as her. Also it is probably the most new material of the main Tsukihime story we are going to get until the remake of the visual novel is released.
From the few chapters that have come out this series is a surreal series with Yukika Saegusa, Kaede Makidera, and Kane Himuro engaging in silly girl yonkoma antics. As the series has gone on it has only gone deeper and deeper down its strange rabbit hole. From what I can tell they are now conversing with Plato while the Queen of the Zettai Ryouiki appears more often. Those are some great selling points. Plus how many manga are going to have Sepak Bola Api and constant Kinnikuman references? Someone really needs to translate this thing beyond the first seven chapters.
It is also worth noting the series also had that crazy make your own servant contest that had some amazing entries including H. P. Lovecraft, Ibn al-Hasan, and Sarah Winchester.
4. Koha-Ace
On a similar note I need to read more Koha Ace. It is even legit enough that it got a whole into segment in the Carnival Phantasm: HibiChika Special. I mean Sakura Saber is now officially a thing because of Koha-Ace. If we see a Light Novel series based on the Imperial Holy Grail Strange Saga I would not be too surprised. Koha-Ace, much like Fate/School Life, has a very strange but enjoyable sense of humor and some interesting insights into Type-Moon as well.
Plus where else is ORT going to randomly drop into a story to chat?
3. Lord El-Melloi II Case Files
While this series has only just been revealed I am fascinated by the idea of Waver Velvet, as Lord El-Melloi II, solving supernatural mysteries. I know Waver Velvet really gained a fan following after Fate/Zero so I am surely not lone in this sentiment. It could be that this series is mediocre or even bad but I would love to read it myself to judge if that is the case.
I was shocked and amazed when Aksys Games released the original Fate/Extra. Since then I have patiently been waiting to play the sequel. There have been hints that Aksys Games has at least entertained the idea of picking up Fate/Extra CCC but how close they are to ever doing so is probably unknown to anyone outside of the company. I would love to play as Gilgamesh and the return of Red Saber, Archer, and Cas-ko is hardly unwelcome. While the rather plain the battle system would still be there (albeit with some much-needed improvements.) But the battle systems are not worth focusing on as the story was always the main strength of the series. On top of that Nasu has stated that he was interested in adding more to the alternate time line presented in the world of Fate/Extra. That makes reading Fate/Extra CCC before any more games come out a high priority.
1. Back Alley Satsuki – Chapter Heroine Sanctuary
I want it. Seriously. When this first came out I totally fell in love with the idea of the April Fools story. The only frustrating part was it seemed like a rather arduous task to get this translated. But my love of Mysterious Heroine X kept hope alive. Then the translation of the first two chapters came out. It was glorious. But ever since then I have not heard about any progress. When will I learn about this ridiculous looking Joan of Arc, the beheading bunny Ryougi Shiki, or the suspiciously busty Akiha Tohno? If I could only get one item on this list as silly as it might be it would be this one.
Also when are we getting some Mysterious Heroine X figures? I know I mention it all the time but we are getting a dang Jack the Ripper figure but nothing for the assassin of Saber clones.
I would also like to get a translation of the TM-channel videos but first things first.
This is basically one extra request that is not even on the horizon but still has me intrigued. The more I think about the mobile market and how this game could be structured the more I am fairly sure it will be free to play game with all the stamina bar and booster pack nonsense that entails. But Shielder and new servants have caught my fancy enough that I would play this game despite all that nonsense. If nothing else I will probably enjoy the heck out of the wiki entires and YouTube videos of the characters I can’t get because I refuse to pay money for game currency in hopes of pulling the characters I want.
That seems like faint praise but I am looking forward to this. I’m just jumping in with realistic expectations. If nothing else Shielder will probably a fun addition for Koha-Ace.
