All the Titles Fit to License, 2016 Edition

Compared to 2015, this is a much more even year for anime and manga licenses with both hovering at 130 and 120 titles. Funnily enough though this is almost exactly the same amount of anime licensed in 2015, it is manga that has dropped down quite a bit. While to us it seemed like light novel acquisitions were flying left and right, the amount of licenses is only a little higher than last year.

We’ve nearly run out of impossible licenses but there were still a few surprises like Den-noh Coil and Chihayafuru. RightStuf’s dedication to Gundam and Discotek’s dedication to Lupin III and other older releases continues to impress. We are still watching the rapid change over of Weekly Shonen Jump titles from VIZ’s Jump Start initiative.

As a reminder, this list does not include streaming-only anime and manga. And as always, let us know if we missed anything.
